Our manual under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000.
This manual is published in terms of Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ("PAIA"). It explains what records Anchored Privacy holds, and how you can request access to information under PAIA.
PAIA gives you the right to request access to records held by a private body, such as Anchored Privacy, subject to the grounds for refusal set out in the Act. This manual is intended to help you understand what we hold and how to request it. A general guide on how to use PAIA is also available from the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).

We currently handle all correspondence, including PAIA requests, electronically rather than by post. If you require an alternative contact method, please email us and we'll accommodate reasonable requests.

Subject to the grounds for refusal under PAIA and our obligations under POPIA, the categories of records we may hold include:
We do not hold browsing history, DNS query logs, or connection activity tied to your identity — our no-logs policy means this data is never collected in the first place, so there is nothing to request access to in this category.
To request access to a record, email our Information Officer at legal@anchoredprivacy.co.za with:
We aim to respond within the timeframes set out in PAIA. Fees may apply for the reproduction of records, in line with the fee structure prescribed under PAIA regulations, though most personal-information requests can be handled through the process described in Section 9 of our Privacy Policy at no charge.
Access to certain records may be refused where PAIA permits this — for example, to protect the personal information of other individuals, or where disclosure would prejudice legitimate commercial interests. Where we refuse a request, we'll explain the specific ground relied on.
If you're unhappy with how a PAIA request was handled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator:
